More about me

Christianity
I have been a Christian for about 40 years, continually growing in the things of God, through reading, audio tapes, television, house groups and through the development of good relationships with other Christians.
I am keen to develop thegifts that God has given me, both spiritual and natural. I have linked to manyministries that have encouraged me.
Computing
I have worked as a computer professional for many years.
Member of the British Computer Society (BCS) since 1976.
I lived and worked in Canada for 16 years, so I am a British citizen and a Canadian citizen.
I am currently applying my expertise to developing web sites.
Model Railway
I am interested in the multi-disciplinary nature of building a working model railway as a means of relaxation, and as a means of capturing the feel of a time and place.
I will add some photos.
Model Railway Articles
I have put together a database of article references taken from the modelling press, listing over 3000 references and with extensive search facilities. This index has been continually developed since 1980, and cover articles from that period to the present.
This database is updated monthly, so visit occasionally to see additions.
For the technically minded, the database is written in MySql® and PHP®, and I use Apache® v1.3 running underWindows XP® for off-line testing.
Contructional Articles:
I have written a detailed description of the method I use for constructing point motors, including photos, and I am planning to write further constructional articles.
I have researched and listed a number of off-site articles.
Model Buildings:
I have the usual collection ofSuperquick and other proprietary models, but I particularly like to scratch build in card and plastic strip. I haven't done anything large or difficult yet, but I will continue to experiment. The foam sandwich board available at art stores has been successfully used by many.
Railway Books:
I have a collection of about 220 books, mainly LNER and Early BR. They are entered on a database, which I will make available on-line, for reference.
Other
Links to interesting sites are also provided.
Other information will be added as time permits.
