A crown is a mark of authority. The saint receives several crowns:
Psalm 8 v4ff
4 'What is man that you are mindful of him...
5 ... (You) crowned him with glory and honour'
6 You made him ruler over the works of your hands;
you put everything under his feet:
Psalm 103 v4
'He redeems my life from the pit and crowns me with love and compassion'
Proverbs 4 v9
'(Wisdom) will set a garland of grace on your head and present you with a crown of splendour.'
You cannot be truly wise
unless you can act with grace towards all whom you meet.
Proverbs 12 v4
'A wife of noble character is her husband's crown.'
I hesitate to comment!
Proverbs 14 v18
'The simple inherit folly, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge'
Notice that it is not the
'intelligent', but the prudent that are crowned. It is always
fascinating to listen to those who truly know what they are
talking about, whatever the subject.
Isaiah 28 v5
'In that day the LORD Almighty will be a glorious crown, a beautiful wreath for the remnant of His people'
WOW!
2 Timothy 4 v8
'Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness,'
James 1 v12
'Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.'
1 Peter 5 v4
'And when the chief shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.'
Revelation 2 v10
'Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.'
